The visitors‘ centre of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Wadden Sea is the largest educational and information centre of the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park. In Spring 2022 it revealed a new permanent exhibition, accessible to visitors across 2,000 square metres and 4 levels.
Building on a concept by Kunzberg, m box took care of the detailed media concept and design, the exhibition’s software and media realisation, as well as the on-site implementation of 59 media exhibits ranging from cinematic immersive installations with atmospheric sound productions to edited films and animations or audio plays and interactive applications. The production covered a huge wealth of different media types: bird species identification via augmented reality telescopes, RFID-supported magnifier controls to research life on the sea floor, a 3D game on the travels of sperm whales, gesture-based games promoting coastal protection and many other applications and information points.
Besides programming and realising the contents, m box also developed a bespoke, comprehensive content management system to facilitate the management of all exhibits via a single editorial interface.
